Finance Data Liquidity – Associate

The Finance Data Controller function has responsibility for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of data feeding into EMEA, UK and US liquidity reporting. The purpose of the team is to ensure liquidity reporting adheres to the defined control framework and is consistent with the key reporting produced across the organisation. The team are also a key driver of the firms continued transition from legacy systems to renovated platforms and work to continually improve the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of the data feeding to, and control framework underpinning, the Morgan Stanley regulatory reporting process.

The team have extensive involvement in the identification and resolution management of data quality issues identified as part of the control process, assessing the impact of data quality challenges, working closely with stakeholders of all levels of seniority, challenging the status quo and prioritizing the remediation of issues related to data quality.

This is a growing team in Glasgow Finance, with an excellent mix of business as usual control functions and project work, presenting a unique opportunity to help shape the function going forward, gain exposure to a wide range of functions and products across Morgan Stanley, and develop an extensive network across both finance, and the wider firm. The successful candidate will work with colleagues in Finance, Technology, Operations and MS other Business Units, spanning Glasgow, Mumbai, London and the US.

What will you be doing?

  • Drive/ support the continued build out of the Data Quality Control framework, essential in validating data across all liquidity reporting and ensuring adherence to Data Policy standards
  • Monthly reconciliation and review of the liquidity reporting data repository to authoritative (golden) sources
  • Drive/ support the continued transition from legacy to renovated platforms ensure the team are represented and a key player in shaping the new platform(s)
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with a range of stakeholders across different departments, regions and levels of seniority
  • Participate in improvement efforts including department level work streams and IT automation initiatives
  • Ensure liquidity reporting adheres to the defined control framework and is consistent with the key reporting produced across the wider team
  • Partnering with IT (technology) and Finance colleagues (among others) to identify golden sources for data, identify potential efficiencies and drive their adoption and implementation, resolve data quality issues and be a key contributor for the function as part of wider migrations to renovated platforms
  • Analysing and interpreting data sets in Excel, summarising and presenting findings to management
  • Preparing high quality materials for multiple internal forums as well as for internal senior management
