Opportunity to join a leading transport and logistics business in a key role within their contract logistics operation. The role will report at site level and will work closely with all key stakeholders, including direct contact with major contract logistics clients.

To apply for this exciting opportunity, you should ideally have gained experience working as a business finance partner or commercial / management accountant in a fast moving, dynamic business environment such as retail, wholesale, logistics, transport, or similar sectors.

The role will play a major part in supporting the business and the customer with day-to-day financial analysis, reporting, and operational information to ensure objectives, service levels, and contract requirements are met.

You will work directly with senior management to offer analytical insights, strategic guidance, and expert views to support commercial decision-making.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  1. Partner with upper management (business owners, directors, senior management) to provide financial expertise.
  2. Work with department heads to determine KPIs and financial targets.
  3. Support HR in calculating compensation packages, salary trends, and reviewing forecasts.
  4. Collaborate with sales teams to understand the financial implications of commercial strategies.
  5. Assess the strategic benefits of research & development projects, including short-term returns, risk levels, and KPIs.

Alongside strong financial acumen, you should have a solid commercial understanding of organizational goals and be able to challenge decision-makers to ensure strategies are viable and effectively implemented.

Building strong relationships with leadership and communicating your expertise persuasively and supportively is essential. Your role is not just about numbers but also about interpreting and communicating their meaning to aid informed decision-making.
