Job description

This is a newly created role that would suit a qualified accountant with at least 3 years' experience in a business partnering capacity. The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial focus and a proven ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive monthly project performance reviews and analysis to inform business decisions
  • Identify variances and trends across projects, implement corrective actions as needed
  • Evaluate budget Cost Value Reports prepared by the commercial team
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly project Cost Value Reports
  • Prepare monthly project Work in Progress and Accrual figures for all entities in the Group
  • Ensure project forecasts are updated and key project data is reviewed and accurately reported
  • Conduct in-depth audits of project reports, identify and mitigate financial risks, and report findings to management
  • Monitor retention release dates and liaise with the commercial team regarding scheduled settlement dates

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; a professional certification (e.g. ACCA, ACA) is preferred
  • Experience in commercial finance, within the construction/engineering industry, with a background in project accounting
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic recommendations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI or other analytical tools is desirable but not essential
