Job Title: Finance Business Partner Financial Strategy & Reporting

Opportunity

The scale of recruitment reflects the opportunities and challenges at Slough. The new Finance team will support the Council to become a Best Value authority within two years. You will be part of this new team that aims to achieve this goal.

Vacancies

We have defined roles across various services and are seeking energetic and talented finance professionals to join us. Vacancies are available in Financial Reporting, Treasury and Capital, Children’s Services, Adults, Regeneration Housing and Environment, and Housing Benefits (Revenue and Benefits). We welcome applications from newly qualified professionals or those seeking their next challenge.

Responsibilities
  • Manage financial reporting processes and ensure accuracy of accounts
  • Coordinate and support the Council’s capital programmes, including funding
  • Assist in coordinating the Medium Term Financial Plan and monthly management reporting
  • Oversee financial operations in adult services
  • Support financial management in Education, including schools
  • Provide dedicated support for Special Education Needs & Disability (SEND)
  • Manage finances for regeneration, housing, and environmental services
  • Support financial management across Public Health & Public Protection services
  • Assist the Chief Executive and S151 officer and their teams in financial matters
  • Support services that administer council tax, business rates, and housing benefits
What You Will Do
  • Provide financial oversight and support across various services
  • Ensure accurate cost monitoring and forecasting
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve service delivery and performance
  • Utilise technology and accounting systems (Microsoft, Agresso) effectively
Your Skills
  • Newly qualified or ambitious finance professionals with post-qualification experience
  • Chartered qualification preferred but not essential
  • Strong numerical aptitude and ability to communicate financial information clearly
  • Resilient, driven, and energetic with a passion for finance
  • Adept with technology and standard accounting tools
