The Finance Business Partner will act as a trusted commercial finance partner to OpCo Managing Directors and their senior leadership teams. The role is responsible for driving improved financial performance through meaningful insight, robust challenge, driver-based forecasting and high-quality decision support.
Working closely with operational and finance stakeholders, you will translate financial and non-financial data into clear, actionable recommendations, supporting tactical and strategic decisions that improve revenue, margin, cost control, cash generation and long-term value creation.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as a valued and trusted business partner to OpCo Managing Directors and senior leadership teams, providing clear financial insight, commercial support and constructive challenge.
- Analyse monthly financial performance, identifying the key revenue, margin, cost, cash and operational drivers behind results, risks and opportunities.
- Translate financial and operational data into concise, actionable recommendations that support improved business performance and decision-making.
- Lead the development of OpCo budgets and forecasts, ensuring plans are appropriately challenging, achievable and aligned with Infrastructure Divisional objectives.
- Develop and embed driver-based KPIs that enable proactive management of business performance and provide early visibility of risks and improvement opportunities.
- Support the development of business cases for capital investment, new business opportunities and value-creating initiatives through robust financial modelling, scenario analysis and challenge of assumptions.
- Work in partnership with the Finance Shared Service team to ensure month-end and year-end reporting is delivered accurately and on time, with clear insight and commentary for operational stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships across finance and non-finance teams, championing a more commercial, insight-led approach to performance management.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- Typically 2–3 years’ post-qualified experience in commercial finance, FP&A, business partnering or a closely related finance role.
- Proven experience of partnering senior operational or commercial stakeholders, with the confidence to influence, challenge and support decision-making.
- Strong commercial acumen, with a good understanding of revenue, margin, cost, cash and working capital drivers.
- Excellent analytical and financial modelling skills, with the ability to turn complex data into clear insight and practical recommendations.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, decentralised or acquisitive group environment.
- Proficient in the use of finance systems and data analysis software, including ERP systems, Power BI and Excel; Oracle NetSuite experience is highly desirable.
