FINANCE BUSINESS PARTNER/ FINANCE MANAGER | HIGHER / FURTHER EDUCATION | HYBRID | PERMANENT | FULL-TIME | £48,000-57,500 | LEEDS


At Hays, we are working with a further/higher education institution who are looking for a Finance Business Partner/ Manager to join their Finance Team. This workplace is a dynamic and multifaceted financial environment where the pace is fast, and the challenges are complex. Here, you'll be expected to work independently, managing tight deadlines while providing a professional and supportive finance partnering service to a wide array of stakeholders. This role is ideal for those who thrive in busy settings and are adept at navigating intricate financial landscapes.

In this role, your key areas of focus will be...

  1. Provide expert financial guidance to colleagues, influencing strategic and operational decisions.
  2. Collaborate with the finance lead to develop and implement the financial strategy.
  3. Identify and manage financial risks effectively.
  4. Deliver sustainable five-year financial plans with robust budget monitoring and control.
  5. Produce and present management accounts and financial information to management teams.
  6. Oversee financial activities such as statutory returns, investment appraisals, and contract reviews.
  7. Lead the finance team, ensuring workload management, staff development, and performance appraisal.
  8. Ensure adherence to the organisation's financial regulations and procedures.
  9. Assist and deputise for the finance lead, building networks with other teams and professional services.
  10. Drive continuous improvement of financial processes across the team.


To be successful in this role, you will need...

  1. CCAB (CA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) qualification
  2. Extensive business partnering
  3. Senior level management accounting skills and experience
  4. Strong line management experience
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  6. Ability to build credibility and trust with a wide range of people
  7. Complex funding and financial management
  8. Resilience and organisational skills to manage work in a fast-paced environment
  9. Strategic data interpretation and decision-making influence experience

  11. SAP and PowerBI proficiency desirable
