Job description

Are you an experienced Finance Business Partner looking for the next challenge in your career? My client is seeking someone to support the Strategic Finance Business Partner in providing financial support and assistance to the Council’s wholly owned local authorities. You will play a key role in delivering financial insights and support to various stakeholders.

As the Finance Business Partner, you will support the annual closure of accounts in accordance with IFRS. You will also coordinate and prepare financial reports for the council’s wholly owned companies.

Key responsibilities of the Finance Business Partner

• Support the production and closure of accounts for council-owned companies
• Coordinate and prepare financial reports for the council’s companies
• Deliver financial insights, advice, and accountancy support for designated portfolios
• Work with senior stakeholders to prepare and monitor budgets
• Act as a strategic advisor to managers to facilitate informed decision-making
• Participate in the council’s ongoing cost reduction programme

Required skills and experience

• Fully Qualified Accountant or working towards qualification
• Previous experience in a public sector finance role
• Knowledge of accounting regulations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in constructing financial reports
• Ability to manage a varied and demanding workload
