Job description

We provide integrated and ground-breaking solutions for the civil engineering and construction sectors, with specialisms in rail, highways, airports, marine, defence, energy, water, and environmental infrastructure.

We are recruiting for a Finance Business Partner to join our VolkerFitzpatrick Commercial Finance Team. Reporting into our Senior Finance Manager, you’ll be core in supporting a vast range of responsibilities that are principally focussed around providing pro-active and financial based support for the commercial activities of the business.

About our role

• Supporting Commercial teams with reporting, budgeting & forecasting processes to support strategic planning
• Analysing and challenging reported contract results from a financial viewpoint to ensure completeness and accuracy
• Conducting thorough investment appraisals and providing recommendations to senior management
• Providing accurate, high quality and timely information, advice and support to key stakeholders
• Assessment of contract structures in respect of IFRS 15 considerations
• Monitoring of costs (including central recharges), identifying areas of savings / efficiencies and implementing process to achieve savings identified
• Identification and assessment of the accounting and tax impacts of “unusual” contracts and working to ensure that these are set up properly and operated with the appropriate level of financial control in place
• Perform contract impact assessments of changes to tax legislation (e.g. IR35 / DRC / RDEC etc.) and develop processes to minimise impacts while ensuring compliance
• Supporting statutory audit requirements and client audit requirements
• Performing financial due diligence on subcontractors, clients and jointly controlled operation partners to gauge financial stability and highlight risks
• Supporting commercial teams to develop improvements in cash, including performing and reviewing
• Project Bank Account reconciliations to ensure Trust Deed compliance while maximising cash

About you

• You’ll be a Qualified accountant (ACA) with demonstrable experience as a Finance BP.
• You’ll have strong interpersonal, adaptive, collaborative and influencing skills.
• A Strong communicator and relationship builder across our internal and external stakeholder groups.
