This is a key customer service role providing the interface between the organisation and Finance, working with operational managers, Heads of Service, and Directors to assist them in understanding and managing the financial performance of their areas of responsibility.
The role involves:
- Providing timely and accurate financial information to help budget managers manage and develop their business, including analysis of costs and value-added insights.
- Ensuring the timely production and review of monthly management accounts and associated reports, aiding in understanding costs and delivering value for money.
- Providing forecast and assurance reports with explanations for variances and working with the business to identify remedial actions.
- Building strong relationships with colleagues, the Senior Leadership Team, and other stakeholders.
- Supporting annual budget setting aligned with business objectives and providing financial assurance.
- Collaborating with the financial reporting team to ensure services are fit for purpose, customer-focused, and compliant with policies.
- Championing Financial Regulations and procedures, ensuring understanding and compliance.
- Assisting in risk management, ensuring risks are escalated and resolved promptly.
- Promoting continuous improvement to provide high-quality customer service.
- Supporting financial monitoring of investment and project spend, including tracking savings against targets.
- Providing strategic financial modelling to help senior managers understand implications of different scenarios.
- Working with HR to improve reporting on staffing costs.
- Supporting the organisation's vision, values, and strategic objectives, including adherence to policies and codes of conduct.
