Outline of role:

A key member of the Sigma Finance team, providing hands-on financial support to the relevant divisions.

The role involves producing meaningful and insightful financial information for the Divisional Directors and Senior Leadership team, with a strong focus on using financial information to accurately project future performance. This includes developing existing processes, preparing month end packs and variance analysis at workstream/scheme level.

The role needs to ensure clear, accurate financial reporting and ongoing control of the divisional balance sheet. The role will provide a direct interface between the divisional commercial and operational activities and the central finance function.

Key success measure will include timely and accurate reporting, clean annual audits, accuracy of forecasting and improvements to controls and systems.

A business partnering approach is critical in this role to be the first point of call for the divisional directors and commercial/operational management to support the stakeholders in achieving their own objectives and reporting on the division's performance.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract to cover Maternity Leave and provides support to the wider Finance Business Parter Team

Main responsibilities:

  • Management Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, rolling forecasts, and variance/trend analysis to inform decision-making and support Divisional Directors and senior leadership.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the preparation of divisional budgets, forecasts, and open book contract budgets, highlighting key risks and opportunities.
  • Performance Monitoring: Conduct weekly reviews with General Managers and Divisional Directors to assess scheme/project profitability, monitor pipeline/orderbook, and address exceptions.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyse workstream and project-level profitability, delivering clear insights to stakeholders.
  • Balance Sheet Control: Complete and reconcile balance sheets, identifying adjustments and ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Process Improvement: Drive improvements to financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and control.
  • Cash Management: Support cash flow optimisation by collaborating with Accounts Receivable and promoting effective working capital management.
  • Commercial Support: Contribute financial input to tenders and commercial proposals; support additional divisions with accrued income and client billing reconciliation.
Knowledge and skills required:
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in management accounts, variance analysis, and financial modelling.
  • Proficient in Excel and ERP/finance systems, with the ability to present financial data clearly.
  • Effective communicator with strong reporting skills and the ability to convey key messages succinctly.
  • Well-organised, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a flexible and positive attitude.
