Position Summary:

Quotient is seeking a Finance Business Partner to work as a strategic member of the Quotient team. This person will act as an advisor to company leaders while also managing day-to-day US and UK financial operations including financial forecasting and reporting, analysis of results, cash runway oversight, ad hoc analysis to support business decisions, office administration, and technology.

We are looking for someone who is excited to be part of a growing, science-driven company and will work closely across the business partners and leadership team as well as with the accounting and other support teams located in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate operates with a growth mindset, pays attention to detail, and has a deep-rooted desire to achieve excellence. Being collaborative is key – in this function, there will be many interactions with other leaders at Quotient, such as those in the research, strategy, project management, IT, and administrative team. This role is based in the vicinity of Cambridge, UK OR Cambridge, MA and will be primarily based on site. All applicants will require permission to work in the UK or US.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain, and track annual budgets and updated monthly forecasts
  • Create and deliver management financial reports and analyses
  • Manage cash forecasts and ensure team is aware of financial runway
  • Support accounting team for UK tax and compliance
  • Work collaboratively across the Quotient and Flagship teams, especially with the COO and Head of Finance to ensure financial models support fundraising and other strategic initiatives as well as working closely with the Accounting, IT, HR, and other administrative teams
  • Support development of board reports and other ad hoc reports/analyses
  • Drive specific projects and initiatives unique to a fast-growing biotechnology start-up, such as system implementations and updates and business process improvements
  • Ensure financial processes and systems are ready to support future growth

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of financial and accounting experience in the life sciences / biotechnology industry. Experience in a company that has completed a successful IPO is a plus
  • BS/BA in accounting or finance; MBA and/or CPA preferred
  • Strong business acumen; proven ability to effectively scrutinize and challenge assumptions and interpret the strategy and priorities of the organization in financial terms
  • Excellent project management / consultative skills with demonstrated track record and ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholders
  • Strong presentation skills to succinctly and effectively deliver recommendations to senior leaders; frames complex concepts
  • Proven track record of defining processes and putting in place financial analyses and tools that improve decision making
