Job summary

Yorkshire Water is recruiting a Finance Business Partner to join the Wholesale Finance team. You will own day-to-day financial performance, budgeting, forecasting and reporting across capital and operating expenditure, delivering robust insights and governance.

We offer hybrid working at Leeds Valley Park (2–3 days in the office) with occasional travel to regional sites. The role requires qualified accounting and strong Excel/SAP skills to drive value for customers and regulators.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant status or actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification.
• Experience budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and financial analysis.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide meaningful insight.
• Ability to build effective working relationships and partner with stakeholders across different functions.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail with proactive problem solving.
• Experience using SAP and advanced Excel to analyse, interpret and present information.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of day-to-day financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, reporting and insight across capital and operating expenditure.
• Deliver high-quality financial support across statutory, regulatory and commercial reporting.
• Build strong partnering relationships with the Management Team to challenge, support and influence decisions.
• Support development of challenging but deliverable financial plans balancing affordability and asset performance.
• Provide financial insight to support totex decisions and investment prioritisation.
• Ensure strong governance and financial controls remain effective and efficient.
• Support long-term investment planning and price review processes with Ofwat.

The Finance team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Finance Business Partner team supporting Asset Delivery and Asset Management. Through insight led analysis, financial challenge and robust planning, the team helps drive performance, optimise investment and ensure delivery of our regulatory and business commitments.

Where you fit in:

As our Finance Business Partner, you will:

• Take ownership of the day-to-day financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, reporting and insight across both capital and operating expenditure.
• Deliver high quality financial support across statutory, regulatory and commercial reporting, ensuring decisions are informed, robust and value focused.
• Build strong business partnering relationships with the Management Team to challenge, support and influence decision making.
• Support the development of challenging but deliverable financial plans, balancing affordability, efficiency and long-term asset performance.
• Provide financial insight to support totex decision making, investment prioritisation and the delivery of key performance and regulatory commitments.
• Ensure strong governance and financial controls remain effective and efficient.
• Support long term investment planning and price review processes to ensure operational and investment plans submitted to Ofwat are robust, evidence based and aligned to business priorities.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification.
• Experience of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide meaningful insight.
• Ability to build effective working relationships and partner with stakeholders across different functions.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.
• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Demonstrate the confidence to challenge existing ways of working and drive improvements that lead to better outcomes.
• Strong skills in using financial systems (SAP) and advanced Excel skills to analyse, interpret and present information.
• Experience within a utility, infrastructure, engineering, operational, or asset-intensive environment would be beneficial.
