Job Title: Finance Business Partner - Financial Strategy & Reporting

About the Role:

Slough is a vibrant economic hub with excellent transport links, including the Elizabeth line and proximity to Heathrow Airport. We are seeking talented finance professionals for a challenging and career-defining role within our Finance and Procurement Teams, which are undergoing a robust improvement programme focused on career development.

Our goal is for the Council to become a Best Value authority within two years, supported by a new Finance team. We have multiple vacancies across various services, including Financial Reporting, Treasury and Capital, Children’s Services, Adults, Regeneration Housing and Environment, and Housing Benefits. We welcome applications from newly qualified professionals or those seeking their next challenge.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting: Manage financial reporting processes and ensure the accuracy of accounts.
  2. Capital: Support the Council’s capital programmes, including funding.
  3. Financial Strategy & Reporting: Coordinate the Medium Term Financial Plan and monthly management reports.
  4. Service Areas: Oversee financial operations in Adults, Education (including schools and SEND), Regeneration Housing and Environment, Public Health & Public Protection, Corporate Resources, and Revenue & Benefits.

What You Will Do:

  1. Provide financial oversight and support across various services.
  2. Ensure accurate cost monitoring and forecasting.
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders to improve service delivery and performance.
  4. Utilise technology and accounting systems (Microsoft, Agresso) effectively.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Post-qualification experience; newly qualified professionals are encouraged to apply.
  2. Chartered qualification preferred but not essential.
  3. Strong numerical aptitude and ability to communicate financial information clearly.
  4. Energetic, driven, and passionate about finance.
  5. Proficient with technology and standard accounting tools.
