Job description

One of my Boston-based investment clients is looking for a highly motivated and team-oriented individual to join their growing organization as a Finance Associate. This role offers tremendous growth and learning opportunities!

You must be living in Massachusetts to be considered for this role.

Are you looking for a 100% remote position within an investment/venture capital firm with a dynamic, team-oriented, collaborative and down-to-earth culture where you will work with talented people and have the ability to actually have a say and make an impact in the growth and success of the firm?

Do you have 2-5 years of accounting and finance experience working within funds, asset management, private equity, venture capital, financial services or within a Big Four public accounting firm in audit, assurance or tax? (CPA would be nice to have, but not needed)

If so, contact me directly to learn more about this incredibly successful firm with one of the best corporate cultures in the industry.

$100,000 base salary, bonus, eligible for carry and 100% of health/medical premiums paid for by the firm.

The Finance Associate will report to the Controller. The finance team is responsible for all aspects of accounting, operations, reporting, and investor relations of the firm. This role will require close collaboration with colleagues across a broad array of other internal functions such as the legal and investment teams and will also be the primary liaison with external parties such as vendors and other fund managers. This is a unique position that will also allow a successful candidate to have ample exposure to senior management and contribute to important project-based initiatives across the organization.

This role offers flexibility so it will also require a driven and self-motivated candidate. The firm offers a fully remote work environment but has an office in Boston where team members can choose to work on site. The larger Boston-based team goes into the office periodically but there is no formal mandate.

Specific responsibilities of this position include:

  • Monitoring central email inboxes and actioning items related to fund-of-fund reporting and vendor invoices.
  • Processing outgoing wires for fund-of-fund capital calls and vendor invoice payments.
  • Managing vendor relationships and access, administering new vendor onboarding and renewals as needed.
  • Reviewing internal expense reports and preparing monthly expense allocations between management company and funds/SPVs for senior management.
  • Assisting with quarterly financial reporting to investors (including reviewing work product of firm's external administrator).
  • Maintaining quarterly and annual reporting calendars with fund administrator and external auditors, helping to ensure finance team deadlines are met.
  • Preparing quarterly schedules of investments and assisting finance and investment teams with portfolio company valuations and related documentation.
  • Overseeing external manager reporting and maintaining quarterly valuations for fund-of-fund portfolio.
  • Assisting with annual tax reporting to investors, including collection of K-1’s from external managers and review of work product from firm's tax providers.
  • Preparing quarterly track records files used by senior management in marketing materials.
  • Facilitating certain cash management efforts (e.g. tracking receipts of incoming investor capital contributions).
  • Contributing to review and maintenance of CRM system.
  • Assisting finance team senior management with maintenance of books and records of the Manager.

Candidates should possess the following characteristics and qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and documentation skills
  • Commitment to excellence and pride in work product
  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to work both independently and in team environment with personnel throughout every level of the firm
  • Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize work assignments
