Job summary

Axon Moore is helping a growing business in Salford recruit a Finance Assistant on an initial 3‑month temporary basis with the potential to go permanent. The role offers hybrid working and broad exposure across AP/AR, cashflow, and month‑end duties.

The ideal candidate will have finance experience, solid Excel skills and a proactive approach. AAT qualification or studying towards AAT is advantageous, with a positive, can‑do attitude to grow within the finance function.

Qualifications

• Experience in a finance environment, ideally across AP/AR.
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.
• Good Excel skills and confidence using financial systems.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• AAT qualification or studying towards AAT is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Accounts Payable, including supplier setup, invoice processing and credit card transactions.
• Support Accounts Receivable, including customer setup and sales invoice processing.
• Monitor outstanding balances and assist with Credit Control and debt collection.
• Chase overdue payments and maintain accurate debtor records.
• Process employee expenses and ensure records are maintained accurately.
• Assist with daily cashbook reconciliations and cash flow forecasting.
• Support month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments and transaction reviews.
• Manage the finance inbox and respond to queries efficiently.
• Assist with finance systems and user access administration.
• Support the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory requirements.
• Assist with weekly commercial analysis and reporting.
• Provide wider support to the finance team as required.

Axon Moore is delighted to be partnering with a growing and exciting business to recruit a Finance Assistant on an initial 3 month temporary basis, with the potential to go permanent following.

This is an excellent opportunity for an immediately available finance professional looking to secure a role where they can develop their experience across a broad range of accounting functions, with the potential to become permanent.

The successful candidate will join a supportive finance team and gain exposure across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, cash management and month-end, making this a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to broaden their finance knowledge and progress their career.

• Previous experience within a finance environment, ideally across AP, AR.
• A good understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.
• Good Excel skills and confidence using financial systems.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
• A genuine desire to learn, develop and build a career within finance.
• AAT qualified, studying towards AAT or keen to begin a professional qualification would be advantageous.
