Job summary

Sewell Wallis are delighted to partner with a well-established Sheffield business recruiting a Finance Assistant to bolster the Group Finance team. You will support purchase ledger, cash, and banking activities while developing your finance career in a supportive environment.

The role suits numerate individuals with a willingness to learn, capable of handling financial data accurately and communicating with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Hybrid working is offered.

Qualifications

• Ideally experience in a finance/accounts/purchase ledger role.
• Numerate with excellent attention to detail.
• Accurate and comfortable working with financial data.
• Well organised with good time-management.
• Confident communicating with colleagues and suppliers.
• Keen to learn and develop finance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Process and code supplier invoices across multiple group entities.
• Enter invoices and credit notes on the accounting system.
• Maintain purchase ledger records and data entry.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve queries.
• Ensure appropriate authorisation for invoices and payments.
• Prepare payment runs.
• Reconcile purchase ledgers and investigate discrepancies.
• Provide information to auditors when required.
• Maintain electronic and physical finance records.
• Maintain daily cash book and banking reconciliations.
• Prepare daily cash figures.
• Assist with regular and ad-hoc financial reports and spreadsheets.
• Provide general support to the finance team and cover colleagues when required.
