Job Title: Finance Assistant (Maternity Cover - 12 to 15 Months)
Location: Leeds (Hybrid - 2 Days in Office)
Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum
Contract Type: Fixed-Term (12-15 Months)

Marks Sattin are supporting a fast-paced organisation based in Leeds, seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our team on a maternity cover basis. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic finance environment, working closely with various departments to ensure smooth financial operations.

About the Role

You will support the finance team in executing core accounting processes, contributing to month-end reporting, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role is ideal for someone with some experience in finance or office management, who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inputting data into the sales ledger and purchase ledger
  • Posting credit card transactions
  • Performing cashbook postings and bank reconciliations
  • Assisting with budgets, invoices, and VAT across departments
  • Producing departmental KPI reports for month-end accounts
  • Supporting credit control and reconciling event budgets with the Event Operations team
  • Assisting with month-end tasks including balance sheet reconciliations, foreign currency, and petty cash
  • Generating ad hoc financial reports as required
Personal Specifications
  • Interest in developing a career in finance
  • 6-12 months experience in a finance or office-based role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across teams
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Calm, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
