Our finance team are committed to providing an efficient and accurate service to our legal advisors and to other support functions. At the centre of this is ensuring that the client and office accounts are kept up to date and invoices are produced accurately and in a timely manner.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an apprentice to join our Finance team in Northampton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to broaden their finance knowledge and gain new skills. You will need to have excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, flexibility, able to manage your own workload within tight deadlines.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with the Accounts Rules in relation to all tasks.
  • Avoiding breaches of the Accounts Rules.
  • Keeping client and office accounts up to date accurately.
  • Being approachable, flexible, and eager to learn.

Key areas:

  • Processing client & office account transactions, including proformas and bills (individual, multi-matter bulk bills).
  • Assisting in processing and inputting information from spreadsheets for bill production.
  • Handling K2 bills and queries.
  • Working as part of a team to ensure bills are produced accurately and promptly.
  • Posting fees and charges daily.
  • Liaising with other cashiering staff regarding transactions.
  • Responding to accounting queries.
  • Carrying out transfers (client to client, matter to matter, etc.) according to policies.

General duties include:

  • Promptly distributing work within the team.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Accounts Rules.
  • Being proactive and suggesting process improvements.
  • Communicating problems promptly to managers or legal advisors.
  • Supporting the Lead Cashier when needed.
