Job Title: Finance Assistant

Location: Colchester, Essex

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum excellent progression opportunities

We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join a well-established organisation in Colchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in finance, with the potential to progress into a senior role in the future.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing consolidated monthly management accounts with analysis and commentary.
  • Handling quarterly VAT returns and ensuring HMRC compliance.
  • Supporting payroll processes in collaboration with HR and an external bureau.
  • Assisting with finance arrangements for capital asset purchases
  • Supporting internal projects, process improvements, and preparing costings for tenders and analysis.
  • Monitoring and reporting on KPIs to provide insights to senior management.
  • Overseeing daily banking activities, cash flow management, and bank reconciliations.
  • Assisting credit control with debt reviews and invoice chasing.
  • Supporting audit preparation, intercompany transactions, and financial systems upkeep.
About You
  • AAT qualified or part-qualified (or studying towards a finance qualification).
  • Previous experience in a finance/accounts role, ideally with exposure to management accounts.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident in using accounting software and Excel.
  • Organised, proactive, and eager to develop your career long term.
