Job summary

A Finance Support Assistant position has become available in the Management Accounts department of the NHS Trust. The successful applicant will join a dedicated team committed to staff development and community support.

The role involves supporting the finance team with monthly and annual financial reporting, as well as assisting operational teams in service delivery and community support efforts.

Main duties of the job
  1. Provide support to Management Accountants, Senior Management Accountants, and Finance Business Managers.
  2. Ensure financial data is processed accurately into the ledger, adhering to procedures and deadlines, supporting monthly reporting and statutory returns.
  3. Investigate financial enquiries as required.

Job responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing and developing monthly management accounts, ensuring data reconciliation and updates prior to review and distribution.
  • Communicate complex financial information clearly to colleagues and stakeholders, demonstrating tact and persuasion.
  • Build strong relationships within the management accounting team, with suppliers, and budget holders.
  • Coordinate with Systems, Procurement, and Payments departments on spend analysis, invoice coding, VAT coding, and updating budget information in Agresso.
Person Specification

Essential:

  • Level 3 AAT qualification or equivalent
  • GCSE Mathematics and English at Level 4 or above
  • General finance experience and understanding of accounting processes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Teams
  • Ability to handle complex data files and maintain confidentiality
  • Good organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills to explain financial issues to non-financial colleagues

Desirable:

  • Level 4 AAT qualification
  • Knowledge of NHS finance processes
  • Experience with Unit 4 Financial Systems
