A leading educational institution is seeking a Finance Officer to join their busy team. This role involves managing the Accounts Payable process, maintaining cashflow, and liaising with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a financial qualification and experience in a school environment. Your role as Finance Officer will include:
Manage the Accounts Payable process.
Responsible for ensuring that cashflow is sufficient to process all payments to suppliers in a timely manner.
Liaise with budget holders to place and process orders and invoices in line with established financial procedures.
To produce reports for budget holders as required.
Manage staff petty cash processing.
Support Head of Finance with budget preparation and forecasting.
Support/provide cover for Finance Officers with the safe receipt, handling and banking of monies and cheques received; weekly banking; school meal queries and accounts receivable invoices and receipts.
Liaise with debtors regarding outstanding debt and ensuring all debt is recovered in a timely manner.
Monitor Finance mailbox and answer or forward queries as appropriate
Create and maintain process documents for specific responsibilities within the role.
Maintain accurate records.
To liaise with suppliers, contractors, the Local Authority, other organisations and budget holders and attend to queries.
The person:
Financial qualification e.g., NVQ level 3 or equivalent by experience
Good understanding of Arbor/Access Finance (desirable)
Experience of working in a school (desirable)
Good understanding of the scheme of financial delegations.
ICT literate and able to operate software at an intermediate/advanced level.
Sound written and communication skills.
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Able to relate well to school staff other organisations/agencies.
Able to deliver an exceptional service and communicate well using clear and defined processes whilst remaining flexible and using discretion.
