Qualifications

Finance Assistant - Vertas Group Limited
Friars Bridge Road, Ipswich
Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Hybrid Working available once fully trained
(3 days in office, 2 WFH)

Salary £24,000 per annum

We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our central finance team based in Ipswich. We want an enthusiastic individual with a positive working attitude to join our team of 4,000 colleagues across the UK. The Finance Assistant will take responsibility to support the finance operations and collections, produce accurate and timely management accounts. This will involve full end to end month end processes plus full budget and forecasting cycles.


The ideal candidate will have a background in finance and willingness to learn. They will have good communication skills and comfortable with using the phone and IT equipment. There is lots of opportunity for development to kickstart and excel your career in finance!

Key Responsibilities

  • To support operations with collection of overdue balances from customers.
  • Oversee the collection of outstanding debts, negotiate payment plans, and ensure timely payments from clients.
  • Regularly review accounts to identify overdue payments and implement appropriate collection procedures.
  • Keep accurate records of all transactions, communications, and agreements related to credit and debt management.
  • Work closely with sales, marketing, and finance teams to establish payment protocols and improve debt collection processes.
  • Communicate any payment issues or concerns to management and provide recommendations for improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous experience in credit control or a similar financial role is advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel, is essential for managing financial data.
