We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join a supportive public sector finance team in North Manchester. This role is ideal for someone looking to build or continue a career in financial administration.

Under the guidance of the Finance Manager you will provide accurate and efficient support across a wide range of finance duties including purchase ledger, sales ledger & payroll.

Description

Finance Assistant duties will include:

Finance & Accounting

Process purchase orders and supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper authorisation

Support with sales invoice creation and distribution; assist with debt monitoring and chasing payments

Handle supplier queries, process refunds/credit notes, and liaise with staff and external contacts

Manage and maintain data on financial systems

Assist with journal entries, bank reconciliations, and petty cash/income handling

Provide financial reports and budget support to staff as required

Help to organise school trips and associated payments (hotels, transport, etc.)

Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems for audit purposesAdministration & Communication

Act as the first point of contact for finance-related queries, managing email and phone communications efficiently

Maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive financial data

Update and maintain inventory/asset records and complete annual checks

Assist with general office administration, including data entry, reception duties and producing documents or spreadsheets

Provide support and guidance to school staff on finance procedures and systems

Profile
