About The Role

Mears Group is seeking an experienced and professional Finance Assistant with a flexible approach to support our business. You will handle daily cash & banking tasks, including bank reconciliations, managing issues proactively, assisting with management accounting tasks, and processing ad-hoc payments.

You will report to the Management Accountant and collaborate with the MHM team to ensure smooth operations of the accounts department, completing tasks accurately and meeting deadlines. Mears Group supports career progression, including qualifications such as ACCA/CIMA.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Reconcile bank accounts (MHM, AASC, MOD, CAS, ARAP, and others) daily, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Process Housing Benefit refunds timely.
  • Handle ad hoc BACS and CHAPS payments, including large property purchase payments requiring detailed processing.
  • Collaborate with non-financial teams and maintain good relationships.
  • Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts.
  • Update fixed asset registers and post depreciation journals monthly.
  • Assist in preparing journals and schedules for management accounts.
  • Create and submit monthly invoices and resolve related queries.
  • Prepare MHM VAT return.
  • Review and approve lease agreements, ensuring system accuracy.
  • Manage landlord reports for investor clients and address queries.
Candidate Requirements
  • Ambition to study or studying towards ACCA/CIMA qualification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to build relationships remotely with finance and non-finance colleagues, as well as external clients.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and capable of multitasking and meeting deadlines.
  • Highly organized with good prioritization skills.
