Job description

Based in Crewe, Cheshire | Full-time | Starting £30,000

At Homes for Support, everything we do is grounded in care, compassion, and teamwork. We’re a fast-growing organisation with over 135 dedicated staff, delivering care across 9 Residential Children's Homes and 40 Supported Accommodation beds to support young people aged 16–18.

To support this growth, we’re excited to welcome a brand-new addition to our Finance Team based in our growing Head Office team in Crewe. This is a key role, reporting directly to our Finance Manager, and perfect for someone who thrives in a busy, people-focused environment.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll work closely with our Finance Manager and the wider team, supporting the day-to-day financial operations that help keep our services running smoothly – and ultimately, safe and supportive for the children and young people in our care.

Your role will be varied, meaningful, and valued:

Purchase ledger – process supplier invoices and reconcile statements in Xero

Sales ledger & credit control – send customer invoices, liaise with Local Authorities, and chase payments with care

Payroll support – consolidate timesheet data for staff and contribute to monthly analysis

Financial analysis – support monthly reporting by analysing spend, patterns, and payroll across services

Fleet management – keep our 20+ vehicles safe, roadworthy and compliant

Council tax oversight – stay on top of property council tax invoices

Petty cash – coordinate funding requests and provide useful month-end reports

Ad hoc finance and office duties – be a team player where it matters

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who brings accuracy and heart to their work – someone who understands how their attention to detail helps support vulnerable young people.

You’ll need:

Proven work experience in a finance and accounts role

Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate (Homes for Support will facilitate the application if you do not hold a certificate today)

Confidence using Excel and desirable experience with Xero

A methodical, can-do approach and great organisational skills

A friendly, helpful nature - you’ll be working with teams across the organisation

A desire to be part of growing team, working in our Head Office Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

What You’ll Get in Return

We know our people are the heart of what we do so, we make sure you’re well looked after too. As a Finance Assistant at Homes for Support, you’ll enjoy:

Competitive salary – Starting at £30,000 depending on experience

25 days’ annual leave (plus bank holidays), increasing with service (up to 30 days)

Friendly head office environment in Crewe with free on-site parking

Ongoing training and development – we’ll help you grow your skills and career

Supportive team culture – built on care, compassion, and teamwork

Regular staff recognition & wellbeing initiatives – because your effort matters

Mileage and travel expense reimbursement (if applicable to the role)

Purpose-driven work – know that what you do every day helps create safer, brighter futures for vulnerable children and young people
