Job summary

Heart of England Co-operative Society is seeking a Finance Assistant to join our friendly Finance team. You'll help ensure financial information is accurate, reliable and delivered on time, supporting decisions across the Society.

Based in Coventry, you'll work on cash reconciliations, journals, budgeting and reporting, with opportunities to improve processes and learn in a collaborative, member-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Finance experience with journal processing, reconciliations and reporting.
• Ability to support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting.
• Attention to detail and strong numerical ability.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile cash statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare sales reconciliations and financial reports.
• Process journals, invoices and credit notes accurately.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting.
• Maintain sales ledger information for the Funeral Division.
• Assist with month-end processes and financial reporting.
• Support Accounts Payable when required.
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and efficiency.
• Provide support across the wider Finance team during peak workload.

We're looking for a Finance Assistant to join our friendly and supportive Finance team, this is an excellent opportunity for someone with finance experience who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and improving processes. You'll play an important role in ensuring our financial information is accurate, reliable and delivered on time, helping to support decisions across the Society.

What you'll be doing

Working as part of our Finance team, you'll provide support across a variety of financial processes, ensuring our records are accurate and our financial controls remain robust. No two days will be the same, and you'll have the opportunity to work across different areas of finance.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reconciling cash statements and resolving discrepancies.
• Preparing sales reconciliations and financial reports.
• Processing journals, invoices and credit notes accurately.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting.
• Maintaining sales ledger information for our Funeral Division.
• Assisting with month-end processes and financial reporting.
• Supporting the Accounts Payable function when required.
• Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and increase efficiency.
• Providing support across the wider Finance team during periods of absence or peak workload.
