Job Title: Payroll and Finance Officer

A new and exciting position has arisen for an experienced Payroll and Finance Officer to join an existing team of 3. Responsibilities include:

  1. Carrying out end-to-end payroll for 170 staff, including salary processing and timesheet management. Familiarity with current HMRC legislation is essential.
  2. Processing overtime and making necessary adjustments.
  3. Liaising with HR regarding contract details, verifying new starters and leavers, and responding to payroll queries from staff.
  4. Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis, supporting budget monitoring, and forecasting.
  5. Managing month-end routines and trial balances, including journal entries for accruals and prepayments.
  6. Overseeing sales and purchase ledgers, including monitoring aged debtors.
  7. Deputising for the Head of Finance and Payroll in their absence.

To succeed, candidates should have relevant experience and possess an accounting qualification such as a degree or AAT. There is potential for future study support following a successful probation period. A strong understanding of payroll legislation, proficiency with financial software, and advanced Excel skills are required.
