What you'll do

As a Finance Analyst within the Fresh Food Commercial Finance team, you will be responsible for providing crucial financial support to the Commercial Trading teams for Bakery & Food to Go, Food To Eat In, and Food To Order categories within Fresh. Your role as a business partner will involve producing insightful analyses to support decision-making, forecasting, and maximising sales, profit, return on investment, and cash flow. You will work closely with stakeholders, challenge ways of working, drive transformation, and play a key role in shaping and delivering the 3-year 'Next Level Sainsbury's' strategy for highly propositional trading categories. Additionally, you will support on investment decisions, simplify processes, and collaborate with various teams to enhance financial and commercial performance while maintaining strong relationships across the business.

You are a proactive and analytical individual with a strong financial acumen and the ability to provide valuable insights and analysis to drive business performance. With your excellent communication skills and stakeholder management abilities, you play a crucial role in supporting the Commercial Trading teams in making informed decisions and maximising financial outcomes. Your self-motivation, commercial mindset, and willingness to challenge the status quo contribute to your success in driving transformation and delivering high-quality financial support within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Essential criteria
  • Part Qualified / Qualified accountant - CIMA/ACCA/ACA
  • Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight
  • Demonstratable networking and partnering skills with experience of communicating effectively with senior stakeholders, both verbally and written
  • Ability to articulate finance for non-finance
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a focus on driving excellent financial and commercial performance
