The Business Finance Team is a team of roughly thirty finance professionals, who partner with the functions across Dunelm, to:

  • Produce timely and accurate weekly and monthly reports and insight to inform trading and operational control and decision making
  • Set targets (in conjunction with business) and provide independent view of forecasts and trends
  • Hold business to account to deliver to targets and manage risks and opportunities
  • Support and challenge tactical and strategic decision making, including financial appraisal (and post investment appraisal)
  • Agitate for optimising profitability and return on investment, and for best use of our resources
  • Use our unique viewpoint to join things up, 'unblock' issues and put simple structure around priorities and actions

There are many opportunities for development in the team, both:

  • Progression through Analyst, Business Partner, Finance Manager, Senior Finance Manager and Head of; and
  • Partnering with the varied parts of Dunelm's business, including Stores, Supply Chain, Digital, Marketing, Tech, Commercial and many more!
What you'll be doing

As Finance Analyst for Stores and People you will be responsible for providing support to your business partners in line with the Business Finance purpose, whilst also ensuring that all requirements for the Dunelm Finance function are delivered.

You will support the Finance Business Partners and Finance Managers in your team, whilst having opportunities to directly partner with business stakeholders.

The Finance Analyst for Stores and People will support across the whole team, meaning that you will work across areas and types of work, thereby both broadening your experience and ensuring cover for critical work within the Stores and People team.

  • If you are not already qualified, you will be studying towards a Finance qualification and make progress towards passing your exams and building your experience
  • Primary outcomes you are responsible for include:
    • Production of timely and accurate weekly Stores Trade Reporting pack
    • Perform month-end close activities on your allocated areas (Store controllable and Labour), ensuring the close is accurate, timely and in accordance with policies as set by Financial Reporting (both P&L and balance sheet management)
    • Complete balance sheet reconciliations for allocated areas of Stores and People, ensuring completeness and accuracy of reconciliations, as well as being able to demonstrate an understanding of movements between time periods.
    • Produce post month end reporting packs for various stakeholders, both inside and outside of Finance, to keep them informed with latest finance information
    • Forecasting and budgeting for Store controllable costs, with support from FBPs
    • Insight and analysis to better inform decision making where needed across Stores and People
What we'll look for in you

Essential Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Working towards a Finance qualification such as CIMA or ACCA

Competent using Excel, with the ability to use various sources of data to produce insightful information
