Job summary

Axis CLC is a national property maintenance and compliance partner with over 110 years of experience and 23 offices across the UK. We seek a Finance & Reporting Analyst to join our Group Finance team, supporting revenue recognition projects, system implementation, and high-quality financial reporting.

You will assist month/quarter/year-end closes, balance sheet reconciliations and provide insights to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA, or studying towards qualification.
• Experience in general ledger, financial accounting or management accounting.
• Proficient in month-end processes, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel with data manipulation, analysis and reconciliation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Clear communication with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Proactive approach with focus on continuous improvement and data quality.

Responsibilities

• Support the Group’s FRS 102 revenue recognition project by analysing data and preparing schedules.
• Collaborate with Finance colleagues and external advisers to resolve discrepancies and maintain project docs.
• Assist Phase B of the finance system implementation with data preparation, validation and testing.
• Prepare, review and post journals and accounting adjustments for correct period recognition.
• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities and deadlines.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Produce financial reports, variance analysis and commentary for stakeholders.
• Work with AP, Payroll, FP&A and ops to resolve issues and improve data quality.
• Maintain audit trails and respond to audit queries; strengthen controls and streamline reporting.

Together, our divisions employ more than 2,500 people and support over 400 clients nationwide, delivering essential property repairs, maintenance, refurbishment, decarbonisation and building safety services that keep homes and public buildings operating at their best. Each year we complete over 400,000 repairs, helping to keep tenants safe, properties performing and owners fully compliant.

We are looking for a Finance & Reporting Analyst to join our Group Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will support high-quality financial reporting and general ledger activities while playing a key role in the Group’s FRS 102 revenue recognition project and Phase B of the finance system implementation. This is an opportunity to develop your technical finance skills, contribute to significant change projects and improve the quality and consistency of financial information across the Group.

What You’ll Do

• Support the Group’s FRS 102 revenue recognition project by gathering, analysing and validating financial and operational data and preparing supporting schedules.
• Work with Finance colleagues and external advisers to investigate discrepancies, resolve data gaps and maintain clear project documentation.
• Support Phase B of the finance system implementation through data preparation, validation, reconciliation and user testing.
• Prepare, review and post journals and accounting adjustments, ensuring income and costs are recognised in the correct reporting period.
• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities, ensuring reporting deadlines are achieved.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving outstanding items promptly.
• Produce financial reports, variance analysis and clear supporting commentary for Finance and business stakeholders.
• Work with Accounts Payable, Payroll, FP&A and operational teams to resolve accounting issues and improve data quality.
• Maintain clear audit trails and supporting documentation and respond to internal and external audit queries.
• Help strengthen financial controls and identify opportunities to standardise reporting, streamline processes and reduce manual activity.

About You

• Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA, or actively studying towards a recognised professional accounting qualification.
• Proven experience in a general ledger, financial accounting or management accounting role.
• Practical knowledge of month-end processes, journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation, analysis and reconciliation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and draw clear conclusions.
• High attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate work to tight reporting and project deadlines.
• Clear communication skills and confidence working with finance, operational and non-finance stakeholders.
• A proactive approach with a strong focus on continuous improvement, financial controls and data quality

Desirable

• Exposure to FRS 102 and revenue recognition.
• Experience supporting a finance system implementation, data migration, financial validation or user testing.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
• Exposure to audit processes and working with external auditors.
• Experience in property, construction, maintenance or related services.
