Job summary

Benjamin Edwards Recruitment is seeking a Finance Analyst to join a well-established business in Newark. This role focuses on analysing costs, reviewing margins and supporting month-end reporting, with close collaboration across Sales, Procurement and other departments.

You don't need to be a fully qualified accountant; the right attitude, solid finance knowledge and willingness to learn are valued as much as experience. Excel skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Candidate with experience in finance or accounting and a good understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and ability to build relationships across departments.
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines.
• Experience with financial systems and improving reporting processes.
• Experience with cost analysis and month-end activities would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and analysing financial information to ensure costs, revenue and margins are accurately recorded.
• Supporting month-end reporting, including preparing journals and accruals.
• Investigating discrepancies and identifying missing or incorrectly allocated costs.
• Monitoring revenue recognition to ensure sales are recorded in the correct accounting period.
• Reviewing stock valuations, provisions and inventory-related financial information.
• Producing and reviewing financial reports to support business decisions.
• Working closely with Sales, Procurement and other departments to obtain accurate financial information.
• Supporting financial controls, reconciliations and compliance processes.
• Identifying opportunities to improve reporting accuracy and internal processes.
• Providing wider support to the finance team when required.
