About the role

Employed by London Borough of Camden, the Finance Analyst - Capital will be based in North London Waste Authority (NLWA), serving Camden and six other north London boroughs that make up its membership.

As a Finance Analyst, you will be instrumental in delivering accurate financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting to support effective decision-making and cost control across the Authority's capital activities. You'll work closely with the Senior Finance Business Partner to ensure project accounts are prepared in line with legislation and accounting standards, and that systems and balance sheet accounts are well maintained and reconciled.

Your responsibilities will include managing project finance processes, maintaining the purchase ordering system, and ensuring timely invoice payments through collaboration with colleagues at the London Borough of Camden and NLWA. You'll also develop and maintain financial dashboards and reports, providing stakeholders with clear insights into project spend, variances, and mitigation plans.

This role requires strong communication skills, as you'll liaise with internal teams, external consultants, and borough stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of financial positions. You'll also support the development of long-term financial models and assist with year-end processes, including accruals and compliance with financial regulations.

If you're looking to make a meaningful impact in a high-value, high-visibility environment, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced setting, we'd love to hear from you

About You

You'll bring strong financial acumen and a proactive approach to supporting project delivery. Ideally, you'll be studying towards a CCAB qualification (or equivalent), or have relevant experience in a similar role.

You're confident working with budget holders, providing clear financial advice and insightful reporting. You're organised and capable of developing work plans and managing deadlines, ensuring others stay on track.

With a solid understanding of financial systems, you can reconcile accounts and produce accurate records to support regular monitoring. You're experienced in documenting processes clearly, making them easy for others to follow.

Strong communication skills are essential-you can explain financial concepts in a way that improves understanding across teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must, enabling you to manage and analyse data effectively. Experience with Oracle systems is desirable.
