Role Synopsis
The Finance Analyst supports the Finance Manager with the Planning, Performance insight and Reporting of the Europe Fuel Supply & Midstream Business as part of ST&S to support the optimization of business performance. The position applies a Finance lens and deep understanding of business issues and priorities to form a consolidated view of performance. The role supports the business by translating this view of performance to provide insights for informing decisions and ensuring financial implications are integrated into strategic plans and the forward view of operational in year performance.
The special focus of the role is on Supply and B2B activities in the UK and on the consolidation and standardization of European FSM cost activities.
Your Tasks:
Planning
- Supports and consolidates the annual planning process, ensuring plans are appropriately challenged and provides assurance to the Finance Manager and Functional Leads.
- Manages the consolidation and review of data which includes a projection of cost, performance and apply both a market and competitive lens to analysis to identify trends, opportunities and potential risks.
- Proactively identifies and investigates data discrepancies and raises issues to the Finance Senior Manager (Midstream)
- Supports initiatives, ensuring processes continue to evolve to assist the delivery of the Strategic and financial performance aspirations.
Performance Insights- Partners with other business collaborators to analyse financial performance and articulate the underlying delivery of actuals vs. latest forecasts on a monthly basis and provide recommendations and interventions to drive improved performance. This may be on a consolidated basis for several regions to provide one set of numbers or with a focus on supporting a specific business region or area (e.g. Supply).
Performance Reporting- Engages with key partners and assist in the preparation of financial reports, including month-end and quarter-end close for the business activities, forecasts, analysis and budgets to provide insights for the business providing relevant challenge and verification.
- Ensures function/business transactions and results are recorded, reported and forecasted with integrity, transparency and in a timely manner in accordance with financial and control policies.
- Bridges the gap between financial reporting and business understanding by measuring and providing commentary on forecast variances to facilitate decision-making and ensure forecasts remain accurate and robust.
Business Partnering- Develops relationships with the wider Finance team and Business Leads to identify and enable simplification opportunities within the extended business.
- Provides coaching and training to the function/business on the financial outcomes and major dependencies.
- Maintains positive relationships within the Finance teams, e.g. Planning & Performance and Accounting & Reporting, and the wider business e.g. Commercial, Marketing etc.
Your background:- University degree level in finance or a business related discipline or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in finance, commercial or performance management
- Knowledge in SAP R3 (FI, CO, BW, FEM, BCS and FBW), PowerBI and IBP
- Excellent understanding of system controls, financial controls and risk assessment including
- an understanding of how Finance processes and systems operate.
- Deep understanding of business and processes (Supply, B2B, Cards, PetChems, Retail)
- Understanding of performance management processes, tools and metrics
- Fluent in English, other European language (German/Spanish) would be a plus.
