Finance Administrator - Christ Church, Summerfield

Christ Church Summerfield is a diverse and growing church in North Edgbaston. + What are we looking for?

We are looking to recruit a finance administrator to help execute the financial strategy of Christ Church Summerfield alongside the PCC Treasurer and Operations Manager. You will be responsible for the daily tasks relating to the financial operations of the church and help the Operations Manager in producing regular reports, guiding the leadership and PCC Treasurer in making sound financial decisions in the long and short term.

Experience in, finance, accounting, or a related field (AAT qualification desirable)

Advanced Excel skills, particularly with the creation and manipulation of spreadsheets

An ability to use complex formulas and pivot tables within Excel

Experience with accounting software Xero (desirable)

Experience of charity accounts and fund accounting (desirable)

Reliable and respond well to requests in a short time scale

Understanding of data privacy standards

Solid communication skills, both written and verbal

Pro-active and self-motivated

Confidentiality in handling sensitive matters

Ability to relate to a wide range of different people in different roles including clergy, staff, volunteers and community partners

Initiative to seek solutions and implement new ways of working

Integrity and Honesty

Job Title: Finance Administrator

Responsible to: Operations Manager

Hours: 8 hours per week (Flexible working, office is currently open Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays)

Contract: Permanent contract with 3 month probation.

+ Key Responsibilities & Tasks

Ensure the day-to-day financial operations within the organisation are effective and accurate, and support to execute these where required

Provide insightful information and analysis to the Lead Pastor, Operations Manager and PCC treasurer to aid in long-term and short-term strategic decision making

Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation

Oversee online ledgers for all Christ Church Summerfield ministries

Prepare the end of year accounts and liaise with the Independent Examiner

Use Income and Expenditure Statements and Balance Sheets to track financial information

Produce monthly budgets and forecasts along with the Operations Manager and PCC Treasurer

Liaise with Operations Manager and diocese regarding payroll

Track the company's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement

Seek out methods for minimising financial risk to the organisation and improving accuracy and efficiency

Help oversee and manage donors database pertaining to financial giving

Conduct all bookkeeping tasks, recording income and expenses, and banking

Receivables: create, send, and follow up on invoices

Payables: receive, track and pay supplier bills

Work cooperatively across the organisation, supporting the wider team
