Overview

Mission Aviation Fellowship UK (MAF) is a Christian organisation that, for over 75 years, have been flying light aircraft over remote locations around the world. Our efforts have enabled more than 2,000 aid, development and mission organisations to provide emergency relief, long-term development and Christian hope to remote communities.

This is an Overseas based role, for UK citizens.

Are you interested in a Finance Manager position in a mission organisation that aims to bring hope, help and healing to isolated areas across the world? We are flexible on location; therefore, this role could be based in any one of our programmes.

Responsibilities

As a Finance Manager at MAF your role will be to monitor and protect the financial and legal health of the programme where you are based. You will be responsible for preparing the programmes annual budget based on strategic plans, providing financial information to the county director and other departments, as well as producing financial monthly accounts with forecasts to the end of the year. You will also be responsible for ensuring the accounting system and internal controls comply with the MAFI finance manual.

You will supervise the programme’s finance staff in all their duties as well as providing clear and regular feedback, training, development and mentoring to the finance staff. Additionally, you may be required to consult with lawyers, accountants, and other advisories to fulfil the requirements of the regulatory authorities of your programme. Therefore, as part of this role excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team are essential. We are looking for a candidate who has experience in leadership, has initiative and possesses critical thinking skills with the ability to look beyond one perspective.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience in managing a finance team
  • Experience in managing relationships with auditors, bankers, and lawyers
  • Experience in accounting systems and internal control procedures
  • Experience in preparing budgets and accounts
  • The ability to research and assimilate laws and regulations and evaluate their impact

Desirable

  • Cross cultural experience
  • Knowledge of reporting requirements of the UK
