Job summary

Anglian Water is seeking a Field Technician in Water Recycling to safeguard the environment and public health while maintaining critical infrastructure in Grimsby and surrounding areas. The role involves tackling blockages, odours, and incidents, with standby duties for out-of-hours work and strict safety adherence.

  • Good IT literacy and ability to use handheld devices and digital systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously and use your own initiative.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills for dealing with customers.
  • Full driving licence; 4.5 tonne licence advantageous as role progresses.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weathers; health checks (HAV) may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a high pressure water jetting unit and CCTV equipment.
  • Investigate and resolve sewerage issues with first-time solutions where possible.
  • Respond to incidents and complete planned maintenance tasks.
  • Accurately record site feedback in IT systems.
  • Work predominantly as a lone worker while engaging with customers daily.

Circa £31,756 - depending on skills and experience + standby payments + business use of company van
Permanent, 37 hours, Full Time ( with flexibility for part-time working)

Location: Grimsby to Lincoln & surrounding area ( must be within 20 minutes of this location to travel)

What you will be doing?

Join our team as a Field Technician in Water Recycling Services, where you'll play a vital role in safeguarding the environment, public health and maintaining critical infrastructure. You'll tackle issues in our network including blockages, odours, flooding and incidents. You'll deliver exceptional service levels to our customers while adhering to environmental regulatory standards.

As part of our standby roster, you'll be ready to tackle additional out-of-hours work, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery. Safety is paramount in all aspects of the role, and you'll be expected to uphold health and safety protocols diligently.

Your duties will include:
  • Operating a single person, high pressure water jetting unit which you will be trained in as well as specific CCTV equipment- helping to identify and promote repair work for any problems found on our sewerage network.
  • Taking ownership for investigating and offering first time resolutions for sewerage issues encountered by our customers.
  • Responding to incidents, and completing planned maintenance work
  • Accurately collating and recording all feedback from site through our IT systems.
  • Predominately lone working, engaging with both our internal and external customers on a daily basis.
What does it take to be a Field Technician?
  • Experience or willingness to work outside in all weathers, hands on/manual experience is beneficial
  • Good IT literacy, with the ability to confidently use handheld devices, mobile applications and digital systems to record work activities, update job records and communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well using your own initiative
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally and empathetically with customers, particularly during service disruptions, incidents and potentially challenging situations.
  • Full driving license- having a 4.5 tonne license would be advantageous as the role will eventually require this (training will be provided if needed)
  • In this role you must be able to work within a confined space, and at height without restrictions. Due to harness weight limits, your maximum weight cannot be in excess of 113 kilograms, and you will be expected to complete relevant occupational health checks including Hand-arm Vibration (HAV)
