Acting as a key customer-facing representative, the engineer will be responsible for carrying out planned service activities, diagnostics, repairs, and installations on electrical systems — including switchboards and power management systems.

This is a field-based position with hybrid flexibility, requiring regular travel across the UK and occasional overseas assignments (including product training in Germany and operational deployments under CONDO terms).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct installation and commissioning of switchboards and PMS equipment
  • Use diagnostic tools and fault-finding techniques to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Produce detailed technical reports following all service and repair activities
  • Support customers both remotely and on-site, maintaining high levels of communication and professionalism
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota for emergency service support
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and apprentices where appropriate
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards at all times
  • Maintain control of tools, parts, and service stock assigned to them
  • Liaise with other internal departments (Engineering, Projects, Sales) as required
  • Undertake additional workshop-based duties when required

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in an electrically biased field service engineering role
  • Hands-on experience with switchboards, PMS, propulsion systems, or control panels
  • Knowledge of marine systems, heavy electrical infrastructure, or complex power systems is highly desirable
  • Comfortable with diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures, both traditional and software-based
  • Physically fit and able to work in confined or challenging environments (e.g., vessels, dockyards)

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND / Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • Full UK Driving Licence and valid Passport (travel required)
  • Willing to obtain MOD Security Clearance and complete CONDO (Contractors on Deployed Operations) training
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and report writing

Desirable Attributes:

  • Prior experience working in Marine, Defence, or Power industries
  • Good interpersonal skills; able to communicate clearly with customers, suppliers, and team members
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and safety-conscious
  • Willingness to travel and work flexibly in line with project requirements

Salary & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary (DOE)
  • Company vehicle / travel expenses
  • Hybrid working model (when not on client site)
  • Structured development and progression opportunities
  • International training and development exposure
  • Company pension & benefits package
