Job summary

Net Zero People are seeking two Field Service Engineers to support utility-scale solar PV O&M in the South West of England. This permanent, field-based role covers Bridgwater, Taunton, Tiverton, Sidmouth and Exeter, Okehampton, Plymouth, Paignton.

You'll perform planned maintenance, electrical testing and fault diagnosis across ground-mounted solar assets, coordinating with contractors and ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience within utility-scale Solar PV O&M.
• Electrical qualifications including 18th Edition and 2391 are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Planned and preventative maintenance across solar PV assets.
• Electrical testing, inspection and fault diagnosis.
• Reactive and corrective maintenance on site.
• Troubleshooting underperforming systems and equipment.
• Working with central and string inverter technology.
• LV/HV maintenance and G59/G99 related activities.
• Coordinating and supervising third-party contractors on site.
• Maintaining testing, maintenance and CMMS records.
• Ensuring all works are completed safely and in line with site procedures.

Field Service Engineer – Utility-Scale Solar PV

South West England

Permanent | Field Based

We’re working with an established renewable energy business looking to add two experienced Field Service Engineers to its growing Solar O&M team across the South West.

Territories:

• Bridgwater / Taunton / Tiverton / Sidmouth
• Exeter / Okehampton / Plymouth / Paignton

This is a hands‑on field role working across a portfolio of utility-scale, predominantly ground‑mounted solar PV sites, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, testing and optimisation.

What you'll be doing

• Planned and preventative maintenance across solar PV assets
• Electrical testing, inspection and fault diagnosis
• Reactive and corrective maintenance
• Troubleshooting underperforming systems and equipment
• Working with central and string inverter technology
• LV/HV maintenance and G59/G99 related activities
• Testing and monitoring earthing systems and protection relays
• Coordinating and supervising third‑party contractors on site
• Maintaining accurate testing, maintenance and CMMS records
• Ensuring all works are completed safely and in line with site procedures and industry standards

What we're looking for

Ideally, you’ll have 3+ years' experience within utility‑scale Solar PV O&M and a strong electrical background.

Experience across the following would be particularly relevant:

• Utility‑scale Solar PV O&M
• LV/HV planned maintenance
• Network diagnostics and remote communications
• Central and string inverters
• G59/G99
• Electrical testing and inspection
• Earthing systems and protection relays
• CMMS/reporting systems

Relevant electrical qualifications are required, ideally including 18th Edition (BS7671) and 2391 Test & Inspection, alongside Solar PV installation/maintenance qualifications or equivalent.

AP15/OP40 certification would also be highly desirable.
