X-RAY FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

JOB PURPOSE:
Nikon Metrology is seeking a skilled X-ray Field Service Technician responsible for providing technical services both locally and in the field, such as installation, maintenance, repair, and upgrades specific to Nikon Metrology X-ray product line.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE RESIDES IN ONE OF THE LOCATIONS BELOW:
- San Jose, California
- Irvine, California
- Brighton, Michigan
- Minneapolis, Minnesota
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to travel 80%+ throughout North America and possibly limited travel to Central and South America.
- 2-year technical degree & a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a technical role or more than 4 years’ experience in a technical role.
- Electrical, electronic & mechanical skills.
- Ability to identify and fix issues down to a board level.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with complex capital equipment with subsystems such as vacuum, manipulators, high voltage systems, general mechanical, and PCs.
- Willingness to work overtime (this position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay in accordance with FLSA).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.
- Ability to work on ITAR projects.
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
FIELD SERVICE:
- Perform system installations, preventive maintenance, upgrades, etc.
- Troubleshoot system failures/errors and perform corrective actions.
- Perform product maintenance and software training as needed.
- Provide technical product services for Nikon Metrology X-ray products following standard procedures.
- Test and repair spare parts and systems in-house.
- Support equipment at customer locations or via remote communication.
- Manage return of parts and tools after work completion.
- Maintain service equipment and tools; provide inventory reports.
- Submit timesheets, expense reports, service reports, and documentation promptly.
- Submit radiation dosimetry data periodically as per company policy.
SALES SUPPORT:
- Support Nikon dealers, sales personnel, and fellow technicians.
- Assist with setup and teardown for trade shows.
- Support technical sales of new products or services.
- Promote service contracts and offerings to customers.
FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
- Perform field service duties professionally under pressure.
- Communicate effectively in customer-facing situations.
- Basic MS Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Read and understand schematics and drawings.
- Troubleshoot computer hardware and software.
- Use tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering irons, and hand tools.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Access tight spaces as needed.
- Travel 80%+ domestically and internationally.
