Placements24, in partnership with a leading telecommunications provider, is seeking a Field Service Technician for Gauteng. You will install, configure and maintain fibre, DSL and wireless equipment at homes and businesses, with extensive regional travel.

Diagnose broadband and data issues, perform site surveys, and guide customers on usage and troubleshooting while upholding safety standards. Matric with technical certs and 3+ years telecom experience preferred.

Qualificações

• Matric or equivalent qualification with relevant technical certifications preferred.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on telecom installation and repair experience.

About the Role

Our client, a leading telecommunications service provider, is looking for a dedicated and skilled Field Service Technician to join their expanding operations in **Tembisa, Gauteng**. This role is essential for providing on-site technical support and installation services to customers, ensuring the seamless delivery of voice and data services. The ideal candidate will be proficient in diagnosing and resolving a wide range of technical issues related to telecommunications equipment, including fibre optics, DSL, and wireless technologies. You will be the face of our client to their customers, delivering exceptional service and technical expertise in their homes and businesses across the **Tembisa** and surrounding areas. This is a field-based position requiring extensive travel within the assigned region, focusing on maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction and network integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment at customer premises.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to broadband, voice, and data services.
• Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on network infrastructure components.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine optimal equipment placement and installation procedures.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers on product usage and troubleshooting.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures during all field operations.
• Effectively manage service appointments and respond to customer requests in a timely manner.
• Document all service calls, including issue resolution and equipment status.
• Liaise with the head office technical support team for escalated issues.

Requirements

• Matric or equivalent qualification, with relevant technical certifications preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in telecommunications installation and repair.
• Solid understanding of telecommunications technologies such as Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH), DSL, VoIP, and LTE.
• Proficiency in using testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field environment.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the **Gauteng** province.
• Basic IT troubleshooting skills are advantageous.
