Job description

Penn Power Systems is seeking a qualified power generation field service technician capable of working independently or in teams on power generation equipment in the 300kw to 4.0 Mw range. Requirements include a blend of mechanical and electrical capabilities.

Requirements

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Scheduled maintenance and repairs of backup power generation equipment
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of controls, switchgear, and accessories such as batteries, battery chargers, heaters, motors, and pumps. Strong AC/DC power skills are required for electrical troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical contactors, motors, relays, contacts, generator components, and controls.
  • Maintain good oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn, work independently, exercise good judgment, and foster a safe working environment.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in power generation service, industrial mechanical-electrical troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Computer literate.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret schematics.
  • Good driving and disciplinary records (no disciplines issued in the past 12 months).

Environmental and Physical Requirements

This role involves exposure to mechanical parts, heights, airborne particles, chemicals, and electrical hazards. Physical activities include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing, pulling, and occasional climbing and crouching.
