As a field service technician, you will be Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated machinery and systems. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. Work to be performed at the lowest cost consistent with quality standards, design requirements and completion schedules.

Essential

  • Set up and configure new automation machinery, ensuring all systems are operational and meet performance standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with automated systems, including mechanical, electrical, and software problems.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to keep machinery in top condition.
  • Work closely with engineers to understand project requirements and provide technical support.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and system performance.
  • Train other technicians and operators on products, processes, and equipment.
  • Communicate problems to supervisor or purchasing agent in a timely manner.
  • Anticipate requirements and requisition needed components using historical knowledge and the production schedule.
  • Work as a team to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Maintain orderly work area and cleanup work area at the end of the day.
  • Be consistently at work and punctual; clock job times accurately.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrate application of acquired knowledge from Lean training.
  • Participate in job reviews when appropriate.
  • Observe company policy, safety and security procedures.
  • Perform all activities in conformance with the AGR Quality System and ISO procedures.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency with programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers.
  • Ability to manage schedules efficiently and meet service call deadlines.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to customer site.
  • Valid driver’s license and US passport.

Work Environment

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Moderate noise level.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to use hands for a variety of tasks.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
  • Ability to walk, stand and sit, occasionally to climb, balance, stoop, kneel.
  • Frequently lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Good vision and eye / hand coordination.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and typical work hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. when working onsite. Schedule will vary when on service calls. Overtime is on an as needed basis and at the direction of the department manager.

Travel

  • Travel up to 75% as needed.
  • There may be times when short-notice travel is required.

Education and Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience, High School Diploma
  • Associate degree or certificate in Advanced Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Service Technician or similar role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
