Our client based in Manchester is looking for a Field Service Technician to join their team on a staff basis.

We are seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Field Service Technician to join our Service Team in Manchester. Reporting directly to the Service Manager, this role is pivotal in supporting the maintenance of customer equipment on-site and performing workshop activities for our aftermarket service team. You will primarily work at customer sites across the UK and overseas, providing installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance support.

With an emphasis on mechanical systems—including pumps, rotating equipment, vacuum, and pressure systems—you’ll play a key role in driving process improvements and maintaining strong customer relations while managing your schedule effectively to maximize productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide on-site support for service maintenance and workshop tasks. This means travel at short notice and can be for extended periods
  2. Prepare and approve work packs for service team activities.
  3. Perform mechanical completion checks, factory acceptance tests, electrical function/loop checks, and leak/pressure testing.
  4. Compile detailed technical reports on customer equipment.
  5. Deliver aftersales support, including inspections, spare part identification, and technical advice.
  6. Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations.
  7. Work closely with internal stakeholders and engineering teams.
  8. Maintain accurate documentation using Microsoft Office tools.
  9. Travel daily to customer sites as required.
Desired Qualities/Qualifications
  • Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship (C&G, ONC, HNC). This is to be a completed apprenticeship – CSCS card to be held or able to obtain. Preferably HGV/Heavy Plant Engineering.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience with installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Understanding of industry standards and wastewater procedures. Will be working on sewage /industrial systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • MUST: travel at short notice and can be for extended periods (UK & overseas)
