A global leader in laboratory automation is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support customer sites across the South of the UK. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and technical support of advanced laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a relevant engineering degree and experience in field service, along with strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Position summary: As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of our advanced laboratory equipment at customer sites across the South of the UK. Your role ensures maximum equipment uptime and outstanding customer support, enabling scientists and clinicians to focus on their research and diagnostics.
Install, configure, and calibrate laboratory instruments at customer sites.
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs to ensure optimal instrument performance and compliance.
Provide technical support and training to end-users on-site and remotely.
Ensure accurate service documentation, including service reports, calibration certificates, and parts usage.
Manage spare parts inventory and return of used/defective components in a timely manner.
Support the service team in achieving customer satisfaction goals and service KPIs (e.g., response time, first-time fix rate).
Act as a technical liaison between customers and internal teams (sales, applications, product support).
Stay updated with product changes, service procedures, and industry regulations through regular training.
Required:
HNC/HND or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
2+ years of experience in field service, technical support, or instrumentation maintenance, preferably in a laboratory or medical devices environment.
Strong technical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel frequently within the assigned territory.
Soft skills are crucial for this role as the person will be a face of our company.
