Overview

Field Service Engineer – Scientific Benchtop Equipment. Territory: North East UK to Northampton. Salary: Up to £40K plus monthly commission (approx. £1.5K per year). Hours of Work: Mon-Thurs 9-5.30 and Friday 9-1 (subject to change on 6 monthly basis). Travelling throughout Mon-Thurs with some nights away. Taylorollinson are recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to work for a leading provider of analytical instruments who provide solutions geared toward chemical, life science, environmental and manufacturing laboratories in both research and industrial settings.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced engineer with experience supporting complex scientific benchtop equipment, who would like to work as the main technical resource for the company’s product range, providing remote and onsite customer support across the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with customers and colleagues during the site planning process prior to installation.
  • Inspect, install, configure, test, and ensure systems and accessories meet specifications at customer sites.
  • Deliver basic operator training to customers following installation.
  • Perform both breakdown repairs and planned preventive maintenance at customer locations.
  • Provide technical support and fault-finding assistance to customers and colleagues.
  • Conduct system validation procedures to meet certifiable standards.
  • Travel frequently to customer sites throughout the UK.
  • Support the Sales team by running samples, preparing timely reports for customers, and assisting with method development.
  • Work independently and remain effective under pressure while troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Prepare clear and professional technical reports for delivery to customers within agreed timeframes.
Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum qualification: HNC/HND Level 4 (or equivalent).
  • Practical experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly focused, self-motivated, and a strong team player.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently across the UK.
