Job description

EFI is looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our Nozomi Business Unit in the UK (Yorkshire area), focusing on packaging printing solutions.

What you will do:

  • Provide on-site and telephone support, training, and repair services for Inkjet customers, including installation, repair, and operator training.
  • Install EFI industrial inkjet Nozomi printers, working with customers on pre-installation requirements, unloading components, and positioning equipment.
  • Set up and test controllers, print heads, UV components, and other parts, ensuring adherence to factory standards.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing customer training on equipment operation and maintenance, assessing training needs and making recommendations.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on complex electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic issues as directed.
  • Provide technical feedback via EFI Inkjet Case Management System during and after customer visits.
  • Travel up to 75% of the workweek, including occasional weekends, to meet customer needs.
  • Work remotely with customers to diagnose issues and guide repairs effectively.
  • Participate in after-hours support activities on a rotating basis.

  • Have at least 2 years of technical education or equivalent experience in mechanical, digital, and electronic technology.
  • Have 2+ years in field engineering servicing complex electro-mechanical devices in demanding environments.
  • Possess strong customer management skills and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Can independently manage a large service territory, including parts, tools, and information assets.
  • Can troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to the component level.
  • Can provide remote technical support and communicate effectively via phone and email.
  • Have knowledge of RIPS, color theory, and operating systems like Windows and Linux (preferred).
  • Knowledge of printing industry materials and chemicals is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of industrial inkjet printers, large format printers, and printing applications is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of high and low voltage wiring, including single and three-phase power requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical skills, including precise alignment using critical tools.
