Job summary

NES Fircroft in Fort William is seeking a Field Service Technician/Engineer to install, commission and maintain monitoring equipment on fish-farm sites along the Scottish west coast and islands. The role blends field work with hands-on workshop tasks at the Fort William unit.

The successful candidate will have hands-on site experience, strong IT networking, and the ability to diagnose electrical, mechanical and software faults, with travel and occasional lodge away. A company vehicle is provided.

Qualifications

• Hands-on field experience on fish farm sites.
• Strong IT networking skills: IP, VPN, routers.
• Software literacy; logs and diagnostics.
• Practical electro-mechanical fault-finding ability.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain monitoring equipment on active fish farm sites across the Scottish west coast and islands
• Set up, configure and troubleshoot on-site connectivity and remote access so systems report reliably from remote locations.
• Diagnose and resolve faults on site — electrical, mechanical and software — and know when to repair, swap out, or expand.
• Build strong working relationships with site managers and farm crews, and represent professionally on customer sites.
• Keep clear service records and feed practical field insight back to the product and engineering teams.
• Assemble, test and quality-check equipment before deployment.
• Carry out service, repair and refurbishment of returned equipment.
• Support R&D by preparing, building and bench-testing prototype hardware alongside the CTO.
