Overview of role: Installation, Service, and support of Rapiscan X-RAY screening systems. This role will have primary responsibility for supporting all X-ray, CT, Checkpoint, and Trace product lines of Rapiscan systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and support ADS, CT, Checkpoint & Trace products at customer premises, primarily in Scotland & Newcastle areas, with occasional support across the UK and internationally.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on-site at customer locations in EMEA.
  • Conduct service site surveys prior to installations and prepare professional site reports.
  • Perform all preventive and corrective maintenance works and attend call-outs promptly.
  • Support shifts to ensure coverage at key customer sites.
  • Provide remote technical support to distributors’ engineers and customers.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external partners on service matters, providing guidance as needed.
  • Submit service and non-conformance reports without delay.
  • Provide feedback to engineering, product management, and QA teams for continuous improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as required to meet business needs.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to clearly articulate product and process information.
  • Experience with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting MS Windows-based servers and workstations is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of high-end X-ray systems or computed tomography is a significant advantage.
  • Experience programming PLCs is beneficial.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex systems.
  • Previous experience as a field service engineer.
  • Flexibility to adapt to project changes and willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.
  • Self-motivated, able to work under pressure, and quick to learn.
  • Ability to obtain airport security passes (some require criminal record checks).
  • An electrical diploma with 4-5 years of field experience or a BSc in Engineering with 2-3 years of experience.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Electrical Engineering is desirable.
  • IT certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, etc.) are a plus.
  • Good general knowledge of mechanical, electrical, civil, hydraulic, electronics, or complex electro-mechanical systems, or knowledge of HV systems in medical or industrial engineering disciplines.
