Job summary

Barker Ross is recruiting a hands-on Field Service Engineer to fit our client, a leading specialist in irrigation and water management, across the UK. The role involves installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of hydraulic, mechanical, diesel and electrical systems at customer sites.

You will spend most of your time on the road, with occasional workshop duties, and benefit from a salary of £37,000–£40,000 plus a company vehicle where applicable and ongoing specialist training.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a field service, maintenance or engineering role.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with hydraulics, pumps, diesel engines or industrial machinery.
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
• A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, maintain and repair irrigation systems.
• Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and diesel systems.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs.
• Test equipment and ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
• Provide professional technical support to customers on-site.
• Complete service reports and maintain accurate records.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Work safely and in accordance with company standards.
