Position Summary

We are in a quest for a hardworking initiative taker with a positive demeanour to commission, start-up, service and install our range of magnetic sector process mass spectrometers, gas and sulphur analysers, and other systems if required, on sites in UK, Ireland and mainland Europe and sporadically other worldwide locations. These sites include but are not limited to petrochemical, pharmaceutical, chemical, steel, cement, air quality monitoring stations, etc.

Key Responsibilities - what will you do?

  • Commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting, repair and installation of instruments on customer sites mostly in EMEA, with Benelux, Germany and France being the focus region.
  • Provide outstanding technical support to – on-site and remotely.
  • Training customers on instrument operation and servicing.
  • Promote and engage in sales of service offerings such as service contracts, parts, trainings and maintenance support.
  • Responsible for accurate inventory control of company property.
  • Undertake training in related products to allow for expanded Service coverage. This may include products that are not mass spec or analyzers.
  • Maintain electronic records of service visits and other enquiries and retain associated documentation.
  • Work with other departments as well as external contractors to ensure customer needs are met with efficiency and integrity.
  • Share experience and methodology of product services and applications with colleagues. Contribute to knowledge base to allow continued improvement of work efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Carry out other duties that may be considered vital to ensure efficient running of EMEA service department.

Crucial Skills, Experience, Education and Abilities

  • Chemistry and/or engineering/electronics (diploma or degree) or other relevant technical qualification.
  • Hands-on field service experience supporting, installing, servicing and fixing electronic instrumentation.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and to quickly diagnose and resolve technical analytical problems in each situation.
  • Willingness to travel over 60% of working time to customers in EMEA and occasionally outside the region, often at short notice. Rarely weekend travel may be required as the need arises.
  • Comfortable working in small spaces, in colder and hotter environment, on heights, climbing a ladder and be able to lift heavier objects.
  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills. Showing integrity even when under stress and pressure.
  • ‘Can Do’ approach and philosophy with ability to learn new things related to the job.
  • Computer skills with experience of using Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid passport and clean European driving license and ability to travel unrestricted throughout the region.

Desired Skills/Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate in German or any additional language(s) will be a huge benefit.
  • Experience servicing chemical instruments and/or gas analyzers.
  • Understanding of chemistry (especially gas analysis) and theory of process applications, or at least the ability to understand and imagine concepts when explained.
  • Understanding of communication protocols including Modbus, Ethernet, etc.
